As I sat down to write about OPSEC, I thought I'd check out what narrative the public was being fed on the subject, so of course I went directly to Wikipedia. I was astonished to learn that my history classes and my training were all wrong! Imagine my surprise, to learn the term was coined in Vietnam and not back to Sun Tzu. Take a minute and look at what the internet thinks OPSEC is.

It's as if the whole idea of operational security is whatever some intern at Widgets Inc. was told to draft into a power point presentation, and if they didn't understand what an acronym meant, they just made up a new one. Its no wonder Communist China steals everything not tied down, this culture is ripe for espionage. We were warned by Sen. Joseph McCarthy (you will love what wikipedia has to say about him), and of course he was 100% correct. We have congress with a slush fund for bailing themselves out of compromising situations. "Elected" officials like Eric Swalwell, sleeping with at least one Chinese spy. Un-elected bureaucrats like Hillary Clinton, side stepping security and creating their own email servers, that most likely led to loss of life.
Radical changes needed?
Security is a culture not a fad. Accountability has always been a part of that. We don't need to change anything we just need to enforce what a lot smarter people than we are, laid out decades ago. The "problem " is the dirt bags listed above were not held accountable. Giving classified information to a group of 535 "elected" officials, that live in a fantasy land, where they think they actually govern, each with their own agenda's, is inherently foolish at best, stupid at worst. Mechanisms are and always have been in place for the effective distribution of that information on a need to know basis. Enforcement, at this stage will most likely come from an Article V Convention Of States, as our brilliant founders saw fit to add to The Constitution. Be diligent and observant, notice patterns.
